The stream of our unique timeline flows on since antient times until eternity. And with it occurs the rigorous continuity of events as history repeats. To be honest, history been quite particular in this unique feature of itself for Indian Cricket. In the past three generations of Indian cricket, namely, the Gavaskar and pre-Gavaskar era, Sachin era and the Virat era, we have seen the pairs of siblings represent the national side. But it does not end here, as there exist so many peculiar yet interesting similarities between all these pairs who have carved their name on the fabric of cricket!
First and the senior most of them were the Amarnath brothers. Hailing from a Cricketing background, Surinder and Mohinder were second generation cricketers in the family and sons of the First captain of independent India- Lala Amarnath. They debuted in the '80s for the national side, and Mohinder went on to have an amazing career with his brother being in the headlines in the domestic circuit.
Then came the famous Pathan brothers, Yusuf and Irfan. Hailing from a poor family, they debuted in the late 2000's and went on to mark their identities in the their significant styles. Irfan would always be remembered for his three wickets against India's arch rivals Pakistan in the first over of the match while Yusuf's fearless hard hitting always kept the fans mesmerized.
The recent most of the siblings are the Pandya brothers, Krunal and Hardik. Having a stable business in Surat, their father left the city, so that his sons could peruse a career in cricket with better facilities of the sport. Debuting for India in latter half of the 2010's , the brothers have become popular for their ability to thrash the ball out of the boundaries as well as their utility in bowling. Interestingly, the two drew inspiration from the Pathan brothers.
Along with their performances the similarities in the careers of the pairs have also attracted many!
Firstly, all these players are all-rounders, efficient with the bat as well as in bowling. Also, the younger of the siblings, Mohinder Amarnath, Irfan Pathan, Hardik Pandya, have debuted before the their elder brothers. The younger ones have also had a more illustrious and prominent career than the the older ones. Yusuf, Surinder and Krunal bowl on the slower sides while the younger brothers are famous for their fast bowling. Krunal and Yusuf never played test cricket but Hardik and Irfan have represented India in Tests. Also, both the siblings have represented the national side together in their respective eras too, but for a very less amount of time. The most popular of the similarities is that all the siblings have once represented Baroda (Vadodara) in their careers!
Many siblings like Marsh brothers, Waugh brothers, Flower brothers, Bravo brothers, Apte Brothers, Akmal brothers and Curran brothers have also the played the sport, but this kind of uniqueness exists only in these Indian Cricketers! Obviously, there are some differences, but they are bound to occur as every player has a different performing style and temperament, which makes Cricket such an amazing game!
